2008 Program Journals Overview

We started this semester with trees. Since February, part of everyday has been spent out in the woods exploring, discovering and collecting. Our first project consisted of identifying 10 trees (one for each kid and one for David, Tashmyra and Jean Claude) and making something out of each one, such as spoons, bowls, throwing sticks, baskets, firemaking kits. As our final project, the kids will also be doing a canvas painting of their trees.
Beginning in March, we have added plants to our daily routine, and we are planning on compiling a booklet of 50 plants, identification and their uses. We will also be making some medicines. As our final project, we will be putting together a film, which will include storytelling, storyboards, writing, photography and filming.
